Philippine Web Awards

Why is it that whenever I talk to my friends about the Webbies, their reactions are almost always "ho-hum". As if there's nothing special about it, as if it's nothing to look forward to... And what surprises me more is that even acquaintances react the same way.

It seems that the Philippine Web Awards has become more of a social thing. It doesn't come across as a standard, which is should be. A lot of people question the winners, not because they're sourgraping, but because they truly do not believe in the winners. A lot of people, from different groups, feel that if you're not 'connected' to the organizers, you won't have a chance. True or not, why is it that a lot of people think that way? There must be something to it...
