Been a very busy week for me!
Last weekend
I got a haircut last saturday at Propaganda 'cause my hair was very long already. I was really annoyed already, and I used up too much shampoo. When my mom saw my hair afterwards she said my hair was still long - I told her that I lost 3 inches already. I'll probably get another haircut next month.
Our good friend Shirley is back from the US so we went out with her last saturday night. We had dinner in Soul Food. They have good food but I really think they have a branding problem. I was surprised that they had Mexican food - when I think "Soul Food", I think of soup and other comforting food. After that we sang the night away at Red Box. I really didn't want to go there, but one of our friends kinda forced us to. It's a good videoke place - they have lots of songs, new ones included, and everything's computerized. But make sure you have LOTSA money, if you go there at night. And to smokers, smoking isn't allowed.
For the first time in many months, Jovan and I went to the 5:30PM mass. We usually go to mass in the morning but we wanted to wake up late that day.
This week...
...was all about work. Except for wednesday, which was DVD day! We bought new DVD's from our suki. Watched Tomb Raider 2, and planning to watch The Italian Job this weekend.

Preps Update
On a lighter note, Jovan and I met Dino Lara last night. He was one of the first suppliers we liked - we saw his work at the very first bridal fair we went to. He takes good shots, and his layout for the digital storybooks are so much better compared to the other photographers. We're going to get him, we're just deciding on the package.

The people I love most... my parents...
My dad's BP has been very high for the past two days, so we went to see a doctor today. He was told to undergo some tests, and then we have to go back to the doctor. The doctor says that there's a possibility that one of his blood vessels is clogged, but he has to see the results of tests first before he confirms anything.
One of my biggest fears in life is losing my parents. That fear affects me more and more each day. You see, I'm an only child, and my parents are relatively old. My dad's 64 and my mom's 63. I can see the changes already - their skin, their movements, their eyes, and even their teeth. I can never talk to anyone about this except for Jovan. I try to deny the fear and it has been getting worse lately so I've decided to just write about it. Whenever I start thinking about it, the tears just start falling down. And this blog entry isn't an exception. I love my parents very much and the past year has just been a blast with them, thanks to Jovan. My prayers always start with them - I hope that they'll live to see their grandchildren grow up. Always. Before I even mention Jovan, before I pray for myself.
Please help me pray for my dad, and also my mom.

Mushy Movies
Watched Chasing Liberty yesterday and Milan a while ago. I absolutely loved Chasing Liberty! But the movie isn't for everyone. It's a high-school-teeny-bopper-mushy-feel good movie. Kilig!!! I know some girls will disagree but the guy, Matthew Goode, is just gorgeous! I think his accent in the movie helped. Is he really British? Oh yeah, Mandy Moore is okay as an actress, just don't ask her to cry and don't give her too many 'drama' moments. :D
Milan is okay, not as bad as I thought it would be. Worth watching for me. You get to see how Filipinos live in Italy, and there's a bit of sightseeing too. But a lot of people have said this about the movie and I agree: it lacks "kilig" moments. Doesn't help that it was long. You will surely notice this towards the end of the movie.

Valentine's Day, Book Donations
How did you spend your Valentine's Day? Well, Jovan, my parents, and I promised each other that we will not go out to have lunch or dinner so we can avoid traffic. My mom and I also told Jovan not to give me flowers since the prices are ridiculously high. My mom volunteered to go with Jovan to Dangwa if he wants to give me flowers, haha! But not today. :) Cliche and baduy as this may sound - what's so special about today? Love should be celebrated throughout the year.
So how did we spend Valentine's? We had lunch at Manang's with my mom, Karen and Fiesta. Nothing will beat Manang's inihaw, with rice, salted egg, and mountain dew. After that I went to the Learning Links center to meet up with the Library group. I will take this opportunity to ask you guys for book donations. Learning Links is an NGO and a center for Alternative Education for the street children along Katipunan. The center has many projects for this year and one of them is the Interactive Library Program. The center aims to serve as an interactive library/reading nook where kids from poor urban communities in Katipunan can read books and take part in fun activities such as storytelling. We would like to add books to the ones that the library has right now. We are counting on donations from generous people like you. We would appreciate the following: old books, coloring books, crayons, board games, old games e.g. pick up sticks, special card games, etc. You can email me at carambs@tri-isys.com if you're interested in donating.
The whole afternoon was spent just bumming around at home, surfing the net, and fiddling with the new phone.

Preps Update
We were able to meet with several suppliers this week.
Last tuesday, we met Paulette, a wedding coordinator. She was fun to talk to, but she didn't have some services that we were looking for (RSVP and registration).
Last wednesday, we met Mel Cortez of Decisive Moments. Great work, especially because he used to be a photojournalist. But we just didn't get that "We SHOULD get him!" feeling. And his rates are pretty steep compared to the other photographers (prenup pictorials are not included).
Yesterday, we went to Manila Pen. We talked to Lea, and she was very nice. She was able to answer most of our questions. Surprisinly, Manila Pen's rates are "affordable" (and I'm using quotation marks here), especially if you compare it to other hotels. It helps too that the lobby is beautiful. Manila Pen is definitely an option.
After Manila Pen we went to New World Renaissance. The lobby was bare, but in fairness, the staircase leading to the second floor looked beautiful. I tried to set an appointment with an AE, but I was told over the phone that I can go there any time, and that I should just look for Gwen, Diana or Czats. We went to the Banquet Sales office and was met by a receptionist who was chatting on the phone. She called the AE's, didn't even tell us that we can sit and wait at the sofa, and then talked again to her phonepal. A certain Patty came out with brochures. She told us that the AE's were not available (helloooooooooo) and that she was the corporate AE. In short, she wasn't able to answer most of our questions about the different packages. The whole time, we were just on the sofa because we were not invited to the available tables. And the whole time, the receptionist was on the phone, chatting away. I was so distracted! There is NO WAY we're going for that hotel.
Jovan and I had lunch at Cafe Bola, then we met with Jason Magbanua at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. We were able to get his CD sampler in one of the bridal fairs we went to and we loved his work. Everything went well, we also liked him as a person, and so we will most probably get him as our videographer. We just have to fix our budget because he's pretty expensive.
Next stop was Events Manila in Tektite, to meet Weng, a wedding coordinator. WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED HER! She so much fun to talk, and we felt that we could be friends with her. This is a big thing, especially for a coordinator. The only problem is that she also doesn't do RSVP and registration. Right now she's definitely at the top of our list.
We went home to rest for a while, then went to Eastwood City after dinner to meet Jody, anothe wedding coordinator. Jody is an OC goddess. We saw it in her documents, and in how she explained every single thing on the package. We were not able to ask questions because she explained everything in detail! She was all business and this was a negative for us. The thing going for her is that her package is complete. The package includes RSVP and registration.
I really need to set up meetings with Dino Lara and Chito Cleofas. We'll also check out the Hotel Intercon and the Rockwell Tennis Courts.

Photo Blog
Eversince I got my camera, I've been taking so many pictures! I've posted some of them here, but I have so many more that I want to share. Unfortunately, I was told by a friend that it takes long for my blog to load, and this is probably due to the many pics I posted here. And so I've decided to start a photo blog. This blog will be for all the photos I take everyday. I'm sure it will take long to load, but who cares? It's fun to take pictures and share them! The blog's title is "Everyday in Photos". Have fun!
