PREPS Update
Preparing is really stressful. Imagine, I'm already feeling this way when I'm not even 1% done with the preps. But the excitement, for both the wedding AND the marriage, balances out the stress. I'm happy because there's progress since my last update. The nice thing about planning a year and a half before the event is that you can do things slowly but surely. I'm part of a wedding mailing list and the brides who cram seem more stressed than those who prepare early on.
We already have a pamamanhikan date. A friend of mine said it's too early but Jovan's from Batangas, and there they believe that the pamamanhikan should happen before planning and preparing for the wedding. The purpose of the pamamanhikan is for the groom (together with his family) to ask for the bride's hand in marriage.
We made our guest list so that we'll have an idea on how many people will attend the ceremony and go to the reception. I was told by my former bosses and other people that I should also consult my parents for the guest list, which I did. Now our guest list is really bloated. The only thing that's keeping me from worrying so much is that I know not everyone in the list will attend, like our relatives from Davao. (Tapos yun pala pumunta lahat! UH OH!) The number of people will help us in choosing the Church, reception venue, and the other suppliers, especially the caterer.
We also have two dates in mind already. First choice is May 7, 2005 and the second choice is May 21, 2005.
The areas we had in mind were the following: QC (Fernwood Gardens or Gazebo Royale), Makati (Guadalupe), Roxas Boulevard area (Shrine of Jesus) and Intramuros (San Agustin). I was able to visit Fernwood and Gazebo Royale and sadly, I've taken out QC in our list already. Both places are nice but I felt that the cons outweighed the pros. For one, they're both VERY expensive. And it's not very pretty going there. I also didn't feel excited. I've always been told that you should always give importance to your instincts and your gut feel. I have called San Agustin, Manila Cathedral and Shrine of Jesus already and the prices are reasonable. I'll just ask around which of the 3 is the strictest. As much as possible, I don't want to have too many limitations during the wedding (for songs, vows, picture taking, etc.). I'm planning to visit thes Churches on thursday. I also called Father Blanco's Garden and Baluarte de San Diego and I was able to get the schedule of their next events. We're going there on thursday and saturday. Intramuros is now our number 1 choice. Hopefully, we'll be able to reserve by next week.

Sige na nga, Canon na nga! :)
Thanks to everyone who gave their opinions on my Canon vs. Sony entry. :) It seems that Canon is the way to go. Have another dilemma, what model should I go for, given a P25,000 budget? My choices are:
Digital Ixus 400
Canon Powershot A80
Canon Powershot S50
Please bear with me, I really don't know anything about digicams and I would like to be careful before I purchase my first one.

Facial... ouch!
Haven't had a facial for the longest time so I decided to visit the Luz Facial Center along Visayas Avenue today. I've forgotten how painful it is to have a facial! I was involuntarily tearing this afternoon because of the pain. But everything went well, and I'm going back within the week for the free 'check up'.
THE Preps
I have slowly started on THE preps. We already have a date for the pamamanhikan, and we've agreed to set the budget for the wedding within the week (most probably tomorrow or wednesday). Slowly, but surely, since we're looking at a late 2005 wedding.
Hey, can you guys recommended a good designer for gowns (affordable please!) ? Would appreciate contact names and numbers. We still have to decide on the Church but so far we're looking at the Shrine of Jesus and De La Strada. Of course the reception venue will depend on the Church since it has to be relatively near.
Can I just tell you that the Weddings at Work mailing list is soooooooooo helpful?!

The Holidays
How did I spend the holidays? Well, there's the usual clan lunch and the yearly reunions. Then there were also new things, such as finding a new gimmick buddy in Alexis, and spending time (LOTSA) with good friends who I don't get to see often - Kookie and Gen. We watched three filmfest movies - Crying Ladies, Filipinas, and Mano Po 2. We also sang our hearts out in two videoke sessions in Red Box and Music 21.
New Year's Day
Started the New Year with the 10:30PM mass at Dela Strada with Jovan and my parents. It's the first time we went to mass on New Year's day itself. We usually go to New Year's Eve mass. My parents and I weren't really in the mood for the usual celebration. My mom didn't buy round fruits, we only brought out a few coins, and we didn't serve a lot of food. My dad even slept before Media Noche. But we still left out some traditional stuff, such as the champagne and the turning on of ALL the lights in the house.
Anyway, going back to New Year's Day... After mass, we all went to Eastwood to have lunch. Most of the restaurants were closed, except for West Lake. Guess where we had lunch? :) Lucky for West Lake, a lot of families ended up eating there because they didn't have a choice.
The afternoon was a lazy one. We went online and napped until it was time for the yearly Arpafo reunion. This year's host was Tito Pat, so we went to his house in New Manila. I was stuffed! The food was great. I could have eaten more if only I had more room for more food. Right after dinner Jovan and I left for a gimmick, with Alexis and Kookie. We were thinking of going to Tagaytay, then Antipolo, but we ended up going to Music 21 for another round of videoke... until 3AM! On the way home Alexis was still giddy, still singing and kidding around.
It was a fun day. Hope the year will be the same.
Back to work... soon
It's friday now and I can already feel Monday creeping in. What am I going to do? Jovan's going back to work. My other friends are going back to work. My gimmick buddies are going back to work. This is gonna be totally new for me. I'm planning to do the kikay rounds - go to the dentist, to the derma, to the spa. Then I'll start organizing my stuff for THE preparations. I'm excited!
But before Monday comes, we're going to watch Bridal Shower. That's gonna be... interesting!

1. What was your biggest accomplishment this year?
Accomplishment isn't really the right word. I'd consider this the biggest joy for this year. Mushy as it may sound, it's finding him.
2. What was your biggest disappointment?
Getting fat. :D
3. What do you hope the new year brings?
A lot of things! I hope that the plans for the big day will go smoothly. I hope that I won't get too bored and that I'll be able to find meaningful things to do. I hope that the Ateneo project I'm involved in will be successful. I hope for health for my loved ones, and love for my close friends who are still searching. I also hope that I can go back to old size.
4. Will you be making any New Year's resolutions? If yes, what will they be?
I don't think so. I know what I should do so I'll just try to do them. It's really frustrating to have a list that never gets followed.

So how did you spend Christmas day? :)
My parents and I went home to Binan for the yearly clan lunch in our school's gym. There were so many kids! They used to be just babies but now they're all big enough to play and run around! Lunch wasn't spectacular, which is probably good 'cause it meant less food to eat. After lunch was the much-awaited gift-giving and lining up for money. Lucky for us we didn't have to line up. I just find it sad that we're not complete anymore. A lot of my cousins are married and had other lunches to attend, some are abroad, and most of the lolas have passed away.
Well, I hope you had a great Christmas!

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (WARNING: With Spoilers!!!)
A fabulous movie, yes. But I can't help but like The Two Towers better. I haven't read the book, but I was told that the movie tried to be faithful to it. And so the ending was a bit dragging, and the battle scenes were TOO tiring. I think that the battle scenes of the second movie were just right. However, I'm not saying that the movie isn't good. It was GREAT! It was long, but I didn't get bored at any point in the movie, and I didn't realize how long it was until after I checked the time. Also, even if it was long, I ended up wanting more.

Oh and one more thing... Peter Jackson IS THE MAN!!!

PAGING JUNNIE, HELP!
Hi Junnie (and to the others who may be able to help)! I'm torn between the Canon Ixus 400 and the Sony P-92! It seems that almost every single Sony spec is better than Canon's (4.1 megapixel vs. 5 megapixel, etc). I read reviews and Canon has problems with red-eye reduction, while Sony has battery issues. One major thing is that Sony uses a memory stick (mahal!) while Canon uses Compact Flash (more affordable).
I don't know which one I should get. Please help! I'm ready to buy!
They cost the same - Ixus 400 at P27,950, and P-92 at P27,999.

Spent the day doing errands and cleaning up my room. It was so tiring! I started with the dressing room - I finally fixed my dressing table! I also fixed my bags which were all over the place. Then I separated the blouses from the dresses and the pants, which were together already. Then I cleaned my bathroom. Then I started on my desk and bookshelf - finally, all my books are together! I hated seeing them in boxes.
I don't think I've covered 1/4 of my room yet so I'm guessing that I'll need another 2 or 3 days to clean up. I'm still trying to figure out where to put my cutesy stuff (candle's, mugs, glasses) and the action figures I have. Oh dear. I need shelves, shelves, and MORE SHELVES!!!
Santa, please give me shelves.
